Ed Sheeran Has Climbed Back To The Top Of The U.k. Albums Chart, A Year After X Was First Released.
The British pop star's 2014 project rises from five to one on the new countdown, the first to be announced on a Friday (10Jul15) since the chart's move from the traditional Sunday.
Sheeran learned the news shortly before he hit the stage at London's Wembley Stadium for the first of three gigs at the iconic venue, telling OfficialCharts.com, "This is cool, I'm happy with this! Being Number One again after the album has been out for a year is pretty mad, I didn't expect it! Everyone was saying they hoped it would happen around the Wembley shows, but I didn't think it would."
Last week's top seller, Lionel Richie & The Commodores' The Definitive Collection, slips to three, while Krept & Konan are new at two with The Long Way Home.
Meanwhile, in the U.K.'s official Top 40 singles chart, DJ David Zowie's club hit House Every Weekend jumps into first place from 51 to lead an all-new top three.
Years & Years land at two with Shine, followed by Fifth Harmony's Worth It collaboration with Kid Ink at three.
Lost Frequencies fall from one to four with Are You With Me, and Tinie Tempah and Jess Glynne tumble to fifth place with Not Letting Go.
