Dwayne Johnson is returning to the 'Fast and Furious' films, reprising his role as Hobbs in the eighth instalment.
Dwayne Johnson has confirmed he will be appearing in the eighth instalment of the Fast and Furious movie franchise. The 43-year-old actor, also known as The Rock, will be reprising his role as Hobbs in the upcoming Fast and Furious film. Hobbs, a bounty hunter and member of the Diplomatic Security Service, has appeared in the past three Fast & Furious movies: Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6 and Furious 7.

Johnson confirmed the news whilst appearing at a press conference for his upcoming action film, San Andreas. A reporter asked if Hobbs would be returning to the film franchise, as Collider reports, and Johnson confirmed he would be appearing in the upcoming film, claiming "It can't go on without Hobbs."
There's also been some speculation about a spin-off film centring on Hobbs. Johnson addressed the speculation at the press conference and, although revealing little about his dealings with the studios with regard to such a project, did not rule it out entirely.
"We all are interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio," Johnson said. So we'll see. I still think for me personally we've created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That's my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have to have input."
We still have a while to wait to see Johnson back in his role as Hobbs as Furious 8 will not be released until 14th April 2017.
In other Johnson news, the actor was recently honoured with a hand and foot imprint ceremony outside the famous TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. The actor was accompanied by his girlfriend, Lauren Hassian, whom Johnson has been dating for eight years.
