Hot 97 radio host Ebro Darden has addressed hip-hop fans to clarify the conversation he had with Drake recently, which suggested that the Canadian rapper had some beef with Eminem.

Ever keen to get their hands on a controversial story, media outlets leapt upon the possibility of another Drake beef, particularly after last summer’s sensational rumble with Meek Mill. However, it appears that the radio host’s re-telling of a recent conversation he had had with Drake was simply taken the wrong way by listeners.

“I told Drake I heard the rumour was Eminem was going to gear up to come after him,” Ebro told his listeners on his morning show on Thursday (August 4th), claiming that the rap veteran, who hasn’t released an album for three years, was working on a diss track attacking Drake.

“[Drake] laughed and said, ‘that’s not going to happen. He’ll never do that. And if he did I got something for him too’,” Ebro continued – sending the internet into a frenzy and ensuring that apparent feud was trending within hours.

However, Eminem’s record label Shady’s co-founder Paul Rosenberg dampened the rumours, simply tweeting “Slow news day”. Drake himself said the same thing with a picture on his own Instagram page, writing “If they don’t have a story these days…”

Ebro responded to the rumours too, tweeting: “Facts we was joking… Talked about in jest & fools jumped out the window. I ain't even think it was a big deal.”

He also reiterated Rosenberg’s comments about it being a slow news day. “It was such a joke and people ran with it… Slow news day. Drake got too much respect for all that…”
