The Calamity Jane star was once the top actress in Hollywood, but she retired in the 1970s and has since devoted her life to animal welfare causes including the charity she set up, the Doris Day Animal Foundation.

Recent reports suggested she was preparing to make a comeback at the age of 91 after her longtime friend Eastwood handed her the script for a new movie project and convinced her to return to acting.

However, Day's manager Bob Bashara has now declared the story is not true, telling "Doris has no intention of going back into films, and she will continue to focus her attention on the Doris Day Animal Foundation and animal welfare."

Day's last film appearance was in 1968's With Six You Get Eggroll, and she gave up acting after her TV project The Doris Day Show came to an end in 1973. She has remained largely out of the spotlight in recent years, but returned to her music roots in 2011 by releasing a new album titled My Heart.
