Reclusive actress/singer Doris Day has announced a shock comeback with plans to release her first album of new songs in 17 years.
The 87-year-old Hollywood legend has been laying down tracks in a studio with Beach Boys star Bruce Johnston and will unveil the record, titled My Heart, in September (11).
She has recorded 12 songs, four of which are new compositions alongside three classic rock tracks and a handful of new recordings of old standards.
Day says, "I had to sing some modern songs because I had already done all the old ones."
The veteran star is also amazed she still has a loyal fanbase after so many years out of the limelight, adding, "It's just such a thrill, and I'm honoured."
