14 Blades follows the Chinese General Quinlong (Donnie Yen) as he works to recover a list of loyal Jinyiwei - the staunchest supporters of the Emperor. Unfortunately for Quinlong, the Jinywei are in fact under the control of Jia, an evil eunuch. Quinlong is betrayed by his former brothers-in-arms and barely escapes with his life. Quinlong sets off to rally together the remaining loyalists, all the while being hounded by those he once trusted and fought alongside.
The trailer for 14 Blades appears to two parts classic Kung-Fu to one part Grindhouse. Director Daniel Lee's 2010 Chinese action movie appears to share the same visual aesthetics and pace with the Exploitation movies of 1970's Drive-In theatres, despite the fact that it's original release in China was during the same year as Inception and Black Swan. Lee's previous films have included such talents as Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Tomorrow Never Dies), while his 2015 film, Dragon Blade, is set to star Adrian Brody, John Cusack and Jackie Chan. In the same year, Donnie Yen will star in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny.
