The Celebrity Apprentice host came under fire when he made disparaging remarks about Mexicans entering America as he launched his U.S. presidential bid in June (15), saying they take drugs and crime into the country.

The Miss USA and Miss Universe co-owner lost major deals during the furore, with networks NBC and Univision pulling out of broadcasting the pageant, while hosts and performers including Flo-Rida, J Balvin and Natalie La Rose dropped out of the show.

Replacement hosts Todd Newton and former Miss Wisconsin Alex Wehrley were found, and the show, broadcast on the Reelz channel, went ahead without a hitch in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sunday (12Jul15).

Singers Travis Garland and Stefano Langone were drafted in to perform.

Trump was a no-show and he told fans on Twitter.com he could not attend as he was "campaigning in Phoenix" as part of his presidential bid.

Miss Oklahoma Olivia Jordan was crowned Miss USA and will compete in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant.
