That was quick. No sooner has outspoken rapper Kanye West revealed his intention to run for President in 2020, he’s found himself someone to run against: celebrity businessman and current Republican candidate, Donald Trump.

The 2016 Republican frontrunner has spoken out about Kayne’s desire to be the second Black American President and has called the musician a "nice guy".

Trump said: "He’s actually a different kind of guy to what people think. I hope to run against him someday.

"He’s said very nice things about me in the past - extremely positive things. I was actually watching, I saw [his speech] and I said, ‘That’s very interesting. I wonder who gave him that idea?’"

Of course, Kanye declared his intention to run for office during his acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards for his Video Vanguard Award.

He said: "It’s not about me. It’s about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for President."

As well as compliments from Trump, West has also got Rihanna’s vote, who asked: "who wouldn’t vote for Kanye?"

A representative for the White House has also responded to the big news.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said he was looking "forward to seeing what slogan [Kanye] chooses to embroider on his campaign hat."
