Donald Trump has branded Robert De Niro a " total loser", just weeks after the Oscar-winning star accused him of lying during his time as US predident.
Donald Trump has branded Robert De Niro a "total loser".
The 77-year-old billionaire has had a long-standing feud with Robert, 80, and in his latest rant against the Academy Award-winning actor, the former US president has claimed that he has been "disrespectful" towards his country and suggested he focus on his "own life" instead of other people.
He wrote on his Truth Social platform: "Robert De Niro, whose acting talents have greatly diminished, with his reputation now shot, must even use a teleprompter for his foul and disgusting language, so disrespectful to our Country. He has become unwatchable both in movies, and with the FOOLS that destroyed the Academy Awards, bringing them from one of the top shows in the Country to a Low Rated afterthought. De Niro should focus on his life, which is a mess, rather than the lives of others. He has become a total loser, as the World watches, waits, and laughs!"
Trump's comments come in response to Robert's claims that he was set to deliver a speech about him towards the end of last month whilst at the Gotham Independent Film Awards only for that part of his speech to be cut off by the teleprompter.
He said: "I just want to say one thing. The beginning of my speech was edited, cut out, I didn’t know about it. And I want to read it. "
After puling out his phone, he added: "History isn’t history anymore. Truth is not truth. Even facts are being replaced by alternative facts and driven by conspiracy theories and ugliness. Lying has become just another tool in the charlatan’s arsenal.
"The former president lied to us more than 30,000 times during his four years in office, and he’s keeping up the pace in his current campaign of retribution. But with all his lies, he can’t hide his soul."
The ‘Raging Bull’ star has launched a series of attacks on Trump over the years , and in 2019 said on the ‘Rumble with Michael Moore’ podcast about the 45th US president: “I’d like to see a bag of s*** right in his face. Hit him right in his face.
“And let the picture go all over the world. And that would be the most humiliating thing. Because he needs to be humiliated.”
In a video in 2016, De Niro blasted then-presidential candidate Trump as “a punk”, “pig,” “mutt” and “national disaster” – who he said he wanted to “punch… in the face”.
