The comedian, 89, tells Closer Weekly magazine he will be reprising his role in the beloved Disney Pixar sequel.

He says, "They just signed me... We start (filming) in September, and I'm very delighted with that."

And Rickles admits he's glad he didn't pass on the first film in the franchise when Pixar boss John Lasseter approached him about playing Mr. Potato Head.

He adds, "When John approached me for the first one, I said, 'I don't do comedy with cartoons, dummies and toys. Leave me alone'. He said, 'No, you're gonna love this!' Then he told me the money and how nice it was going to be and, I said, 'Yeah, I can give it a try'. All of a sudden it's going on 17 years."
