Dominic Cooper used to dress up as Abba and dance around to their songs.

The actor - who starred in 'Mamma Mia!', a big-screen version of the musical based on the hits of the Swedish group - admits to donning outfits similar to the ones the 'Dancing Queen' hitmakers used to wear and sing along to their classic hits.

He said: "I kind of pretend that I wasn't an ABBA fan but I've got video footage of me dressed up in these big ABBA outfits, dancing to their songs, when I was 14! So when I did 'Mamma Mia!' I knew all the songs inside out. They were an incredible group. I don't think they themselves quite understand how big they were. That music stretches across generations and appeals to so many people like nothing else that has or will again."

As well as ABBA, Dominic, 33, admits he was obsessed with 80s singer Belinda Carlisle while growing up.

He said: "She was one of my childhood obsessions. It wasn't anything to do with the music, though - I certainly wasn't entranced by 'Circle in the Sand'! I think that she was my first crush and I just had visions of owning a sports car, with Belinda Carlisle draped across the bonnet!"
