Since the early 1990's DJ Shadow has been a pioneer of electronic music and a constant revered name you'll find at the forefront of the Instrumental hip hop scene. With the release of his 1996 debut album, Endtroducing, DJ Shadow became a household name; noted as the first album to be constructed entirely from samples, Entroducing remains an important addition to the record box to any music collection.
In 2006 Shadow released his third album 'The Outsider' to somewhat of a mixed reception from fans. Having dropped some of his more traditional methods and using additional vocals from the likes of Kasabian and Chris James from Stateless, it saw Shadow enter a whole style of writing.
Now Josh Davis AKA DJ Shadow returns with his new album,'The Less You Know The Better' and it appears the DJ has struck a fair balance between his original sampling style and work with new artists providing additional vocals.
We caught up with the man himself before his gig at Leeds Academy to have a chat about recording the new album and where he sees things moving in the future.
