Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger have announced their separation after just over two years of marriage. On Wednesday evening (September 2nd), the Canadian pop-rocker posted a brief note on her Instagram announcing that she and the Nickelback frontman were going their separate ways.

“It is with a heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today,” 30 year old Lavigne wrote in the caption underneath a picture she posted from their wedding day. “Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments.”

It hasn’t been a good couple of years for Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley, and his recent stint in the hospital brought to light just exactly how serious his situation really is. In a blog post titled “Rock Bottom,” Whibley went into detail about his struggle with alcoholism that landed him in the hospital for a month, and even worse, almost apparently killed him. “If I have one more drink, the doc’s say I will die,” Whibley wrote in the update.

He went on to describe the night before entering the hospital, saying, “I was sitting at home, poured myself another drink around midnight and was about to watch a movie when all of a sudden, I didn’t feel so good. I then collapsed to the ground unconscious. My fiancé got me rushed to the hospital where they put me into the intensive care unit.” Included in the post was a few pictures of his stay in the hospital, laying in a bed with visible bruises all over his arms. However, these weren’t the pictures that had the Internet abuzz -- it was when Whibley left the hospital, and the pictures that showed him out and about were the ones that got people talking.

Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley almost died after his rock and roll lifestyle finally caught up with him.

The singer and guitarist revealed he hit "rock bottom," in a post on his website, which details his most recent health scare that hospitalized him for a month.

Whibley's drinking habit was out of control and as a consequence, his liver and kidney's collapsed and doctors have told him if this continues he will die.

'Girlfriend' singer Avril Lavigne and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger are to be married in the idyllic south of France and have already begun to celebrate this weekend with a Cannes wedding party on Saturday. Initial reports stated the wedding had taken place on Saturday due to a tweet from Mike Heller, CEO of the talent company that reps the 28 year-old star: "I'm in south of France about to see my little Rok star #avril get married I am so happy to be part of this special celebration." This was taken to mean that the knot had already been tied but a source even closer to the couple refutes the rumours, saying they're "not technically married yet" and that Heller's tweets were in anticipation of Monday's ceremony.

Chad & Avril Have Been Dating Since Last August.

This will be Lavigne's second marriage after her three year marriage to Sum 41 lead singer, Deryck Whibley. She met Kroeger, 38, whilst recording her new fifth album and the pair began dating with him proposing just a month afterwards in August last year. 'Sk8er Boi' Avril revealed her connection with the 'Rockstar' singer: "I feel most beautiful when I'm around Chad.I'm not one who really dresses up that much. I'm usually in the studio in regular, comfy clothes. I wear some pretty out-there designs. He likes my style - he thinks I'm cute."

Deryck Whibley and a friend dressed up as Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger for a halloween party, much to Kroeger's distaste.

Halloween is prime time to dress up to revere your idols, scare your friends or ridicule those that you may feel deserve it. Occasionally however some people can get offended, which is exactly what happened with Prince Harry dressed up as a Nazi a few years back, and more recently when Sum 41 front man Deryck Whibley and a friend dressed up as his ex-wife Avril Lavigne and her new fiancee Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, reports the NME.

Kroeger retorted to the offence with a tweet via his bands Twitter page, saying: "Hey Deryck loved the costumes! we were going to dress up as you guys this year but all the parties had celebrity themes haha! -CK"
