We lost Fox's 'Dads' yesterday, but now it's time to focus on the new shows picked up for the 2014-2015 reason and it look as though NBC has a few crackers in-store. The network green-lit a couple of big-hitters on Thursday (May 8, 2014) including the return of Debra Messing.

Debra MessingDebra Messing Will Star in 'Mysteries of Laura'

The former Will & Grace actress stars in Mysteries of Laura, a drama based on the Spanish show Los Misterios De Laura. She plays a homicide detective with a crazy personal life including a demanding husband (Josh Lucas) and twin sons.

Elsewhere, and perhaps more interesting, we've got 'Constantine', a television show based on the DC comics graphic novel Hellblazer. The show stars Matt Ryan as John Constantine, an occult leader and demon hunter who must defend humankind from the forces of evil, all while struggling with his own twisted past. The show co-stars Harold Perrineau Jr, Lucy Griffiths and Charles Halford.

On a lighter note, NBC has also green-lit romantic comedy A to Z, about a young couple who fall in love over the internet. It's sort of their story, in a How I Met Your Mother style narrative and stars Cristin Millioti and Ben Feldman. It's probably worth pointing out that it's brought to you by the team behind Parks and Recreation, including producer Rashida Jones.

Constantine and Mysteries of Laura brings NBC's drama total to five, with Allegiance, State of Affairs and Odyssey. A to Z doesn't have much to beat, pairing up with comedies Marry Me, Mr Robinson and Working the Engels. The Michael J Fox Show was cancelled in February after just one season. Executives had promised it would be back after the Winter Olympics, but it disappeared. Nowhere to be seen.
