The actor/director is set to star in a new series about a disastrous TV breakfast show.

He will play an American producer brought in to save a failing daytime series.

Morning Has Broken is set to air on the U.K.'s Channel 4 network next year (16).

"We are thrilled to have David Schwimmer star... in this exciting new series for the channel," says Rachel Springett, Commissioning Editor for Comedy at Channel 4.

David will appear in the show alongside British comedienne Julia Davis, who is best known for writing and starring in acclaimed U.K. comedy Nighty Night.

David's leap to British TV follows a similar move by his former Friends co-star Matt, who headed the cast of U.K. comedy Episodes.

In the show, Matt played a fictionalised version of himself, and his performance won him a Golden Globe Award in 2012.
