The discussions have been going on since last October.
David Lynch has taken Twin Peaks fans for a long ride with his involvement in the project. On Friday, after a month of disputing the budget with Lifetime, the director announced that yes, he will direct the revival.
It's happening, guys. It's really happening.
In a tweet, the director announced "the rumors are not what they seem ..... It is !!! Happening again. #TwinPeaks returns on @SHO_Network".
Showtime president David Nevins confirmed the news in a statement, adding the comeback series would be getting more than the originally announced nine episodes.
"David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Pre-production starts now!" he said in the statement, quoted by ABC.

Showtime made it clear at the time that it would continue to “hold out hope” for the director to return. Lo and behold, it has happened. All aboard the twin peaks train in 3... 2...
