The Baywatch star has revealed he was riding a quad bike-style beach vehicle when he took on an ambitious leap over a sand dune and injured his spine in a heavy landing.

He tells Britain's Daily Mail, "So I'm flying through the air. It crashed down. I broke a vertebra. It's broken right now."

Hasselhoff does not say when the incident happened or if he is to undergo surgery for the injury.
