Fact: David Bowie's handwritten lyrics to his 1972 hit The Jean Genie are one of 60 items related to the iconic musician going under the hammer later this month (Jan17). Paddle8 is opening bidding on 30 January, with lots in the online sale also including lithographs of the artwork for Ziggy Stardust and a print from a series of Tarot Card paintings created by Bowie in 1975 and given as a gifts to friends.

Fact: A new emoji inspired by the late David Bowie will become available in an upcoming Apple operating system update. The "singer" emoji will feature a man or a woman with a lightning bolt painted across their face standing in front of a microphone, in a nod to the cover of Bowie's 1973 album Aladdin Sane. The singer died in January (16) following a battle with cancer.

Fact: David Bowie will return to the big screen from beyond the grave when his cult sci-fi film The Man Who Fell To Earth heads back to theatres as part of a 40th anniversary run. The 1976 film marked the late rock icon's first starring movie role. In it he played an alien tasked with bringing water from Earth back to his planet. A restored version of the movie, directed by Nicolas Roeg, will screen across Britain on 9 September (16), with further releases planned for the U.S. and Germany.

Fact: A song David Bowie wrote for Frank Sinatra has been unearthed for a new TV documentary. The late rock icon's version of My Way, which was rejected by Sinatra, was recorded by Bowie in 1968. It's one of the rarities which will feature in new BBC4 documentary series The People's History of Pop. Sinatra eventually chose to record Paul Anka's version of the classic over Bowie's.

The 10 original drawings, by Scottish artist Peter Howson, were placed under the hammer at MCTear's Auctioneers in Glasgow on Sunday (28Apr13) to raise funds for Howson's daughter Lucie, who suffers from Asperger's syndrome.
