Australian Actor Keiynan Lonsdale Self-funded His First Album Because He Has No Interest In Signing A Record Deal.
The 23 year old, who starred in Divergent sequel Insurgent, has recorded his first album, Higher Vol. 1, but insists he has no plans to quit acting and pursue music projects full-time.
"This EP is just my experiences and my thoughts and my feelings," he tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph. "The lyrics are kind of dark and fairly revealing... I met with record labels years ago but for now I just want to make music so I'm not really interested in being signed at the moment."
Lonsdale recently dyed his hair blonde and admits his new look was inspired by his musical hero David Bowie.
"It was sort of a must for the music video to have something a little left of centre for me... I was inspired by, I guess, David Bowie and those kind of extreme artists who went that extra mile. It made sense to me."
