David Beckham can't compete with his wife Victoria when it comes to fashion.

The former England soccer player - who attended a signing for his book 'Off Road/David Beckham' and showed off his capsule collection for leather brand Belstaff at their Madison Avenue store in New York yesterday (09.09.14) - believes the former Spice Girl turned fashion designer will always be one step ahead of him in the industry and is extremely proud of her success.

When asked about competition between the couple, he told WWD: ''She would definitely win. (What she's) created and achieved in a few short years, going from a Spice Girl to a respected fashion designer. It's really inspiring to see.''

The 39-year-old star - who is also the face of British brand's 2014 global ad campaign - jumped at the chance to design for the luxury label, describing the collaboration as an ''easy decision''.

He said: ''Belstaff asked me if I'd be interested in designing a capsule collection, and I said yes.

''With the history and heritage of the brand, it was an easy decision. It's what I wear and what I like.''

Belstaff's chief executive officer, Gavin Haig is impressed with the results of his first capsule collection.

He explained: ''It's cross-generational and cross-nationalities. It's working quite well. He really feels the brand.''
