David Beckham made a warming gesture to a London paramedic and her elderly patient yesterday, by bringing them a cup of tea and coffee. The former footballer had passed by paramedic Catherine Maynard when she was tending to her patient and came back 10 minutes later with a hot drink for both of them.

Maynard, a Senior Paramedic with the London Ambulance Service's Cycle Response Unit, had been helping man who had fallen near Endsleigh Street in Central London, when she thought she saw a familiar face walk by.

“I was waiting with my patient for an ambulance to transfer him to hospital and although I was keeping him warm it was very cold outside,” Maynard told the Evening Standard. “All of a sudden, I looked up and saw someone who looked like David Beckham walking past us. He said hello and got in his car.”

"I said to the man I was treating, ‘I think that was David Beckham’". But that wasn't the last Catherine would see of Golden Balls, as he returned 10 minutes later with warm drinks. "Ten minutes later, he came back with a cup of coffee for me and a tea for the patient,” Maynard continued.

“We were both very amused, and flattered. It was awful cycling around in the cold today and I couldn’t believe it when he came back with some hot drinks – I was so chuffed.” The soccer star even posed for a picture with Catherine, which was shared by the London Ambulance Service’s twitter account.
