TV hardman Danny Dyer has found out he is a descendant of both William the Conqueror and Edward III, two prominent Kings of England.

The actor’s royal blood was discovered when he filmed an episode of BBC series 'Who Do You Think You Are?’.

But it was when he found out his family connection to another historical figure, controversial politician Thomas Cromwell, that the ‘EastEnders’’ actor became emotional.

“It’s crazy,” Dyer told the Radio Times.

After finding out his royal connection, Dyer is later told by Thomas Cromwell’s biographer, Tracy Borman: “Congratulations, you’re related to the most controversial man in British history.”

Explaining the connection he felt to Cromwell Dyer said: “He came from a slum, I come from a slum.

“Cromwell left the country at 14, I started acting at 14. He was a self-taught lawyer. I’m a self-taught actor. Cromwell had two daughters and a son.”

“I’ve got two daughters and a son. Cromwell wrote his last letter to Henry VIII begging for his life, on July 24, which is my birthday,” he added. “And I drink in the Anne Boleyn pub.”
