Matthew Pocci, Jr., was attempting to navigate his way out of the city's Gaslamp Quarter, where zombie fans dress up as the undead and roam around as part of the annual bash, when he became "very nervous" and drove his car into a 64-year-old photographer as zombie revellers started banging on the vehicle.

He was charged with felony reckless driving resulting in serious injury and his case went to trial last month (Oct15).

Jury deliberations began on Tuesday (03Nov15) and by Wednesday (04Nov15), they returned a guilty verdict. He will be sentenced on 11 December (15).

Pocci, who is deaf, was driving with his girlfriend, her sister, and the sister's nine-year-old son when the incident occurred.

He has filed a claim against city officials, asserting the San Diego Police Department did not adequately supervise the march to prevent accidents. His victim, who broke her arm in the incident, has filed a similar claim.

The accident prompted Comic-Con bosses to cancel this year's (15) Zombie Walk, and put an "indefinite hiatus" on the event due to the legal action.
