Sixties singer Cilla Black choked back tears on live Tv on Friday (09May14) as she told how proud her late husband would be of her special British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award.

The Alfie hitmaker will receive the organisation's Special Award at an upcoming ceremony in recognition of her 50-year showbusiness career.

She appeared on U.K. daytime show Loose Women on Friday to discuss the honour but had to be supported by the programme's hosts after her voice cracked with emotion when she spoke of her late husband Bobby, who died from lung cancer in 1999.

Presenter Andrea MCLean put a hand on Black's shoulder as she told the audience the award was "bittersweet" because Bobby did not live to see her win it, and co-host Jane Moore was then seen holding Black's hand and comforting her as producers cut to a commercial break.

Black is due to receive the honour at the Bafta Tv Awards in London later this month (May14).
