Picture: Actor Christian Bale seen on the set of 'Knight of Cups' Los Angeles, California - 15.06.12
Christian Bale had an on-set scare while filming The Dark Knight Rises - his restrictive Batman costume almost put him in hospital.
The Welsh actor is hanging up the cowl and cape after filming the forthcoming conclusion to Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, and Bale admits he won't miss his superhero costume - because it was so difficult to breathe in it.
He tells Empire magazine, "When it gets cold the cowl is extremely tight, and it gets better the warmer I get it; it becomes more flexible. But, after a couple of takes, I was trying to breathe properly in my nose. I was starting to see stars and I said, 'I have to take this off'.
"And thank God, on this one (film) I can - on (first movie) Batman Begins I couldn't - so I had to get inside because I couldn't let anybody see me without the cowl."
