Chris Brown may be quitting music, that is if his if his Tweets from Tuesday (6 August) are anything to go by.

The 24-year-old Hip Hop star tweeted twice, once complaining that he is only famous because of his assault on Rihanna in 2009. He wrote: "being famous is amazing when it's for ur music and talent, I'm tired of being famous for a mistake I made when I was 18. I'm cool & over it."

Since the incident, Brown has been criticised and under constant scrutiny, especially as he has been booked by police on more than one occasion for incidents involving violence. He later tweeted, regarding his music career promising "mainstream America" his upcoming album X will "probably be my last."

However, Brown has since deleted his Tweets which were reported by The Huffington Post, so we shall have to see if he remains true to his word. Many reports are suggesting Brown's latest flurry of Twitter comments is merely a publicity stunt, another attempt for the 'Forever' singer to reinvent himself.

Brown has recently included a number of pseudo-inspirational comments on Twitter in an attempt to buoy his usually downtrodden tweets. One, posted on 1 August, reads: "aspire to be great and the person you wanna be. Don't conform because ur worth is more than any money or status. We live. We die."

Brown could definitely rival Socratics or Plato any day.

His Twitter announcement came a day after he turned himself into an L.A. police station and turned himself in for his hit-and-run case. He is due to appear at a probation hearing on 19 August. If he is found in violation of his probation he may face a four year prison sentence.

X, Brown's sixth studio album, is available in stores and for download on August 26.
