Chris Brown suffered a seizure early on Friday morning (August 9, 2013) while recording at the Record Plant in Los Angeles, his rep confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter.

According to a statement issued later that night, the rapper suffered the seizures partly because of the "nonstop negativity" that he's endured in recent months.

"Chris suffered a nonepileptic seizure (NES). ...His doctor tended to him this afternoon and attributes the NES to intense fatigue and extreme emotional stress, both due to the continued onslaught of unfounded legal matters and the nonstop negativity," read the statement.

Several media outlets reported that the 24-year-old singer refused treatment by paramedics or hospitalization, while "PrayForChrisBrown" became a trending hashtag on Twitter.

Brown has been under the scrutiny of the press for years, whilst also enduring his fair share of legal problems. Just last week, he voluntarily attended Van Nuys prison in California in connection with a hit-and-run incident on May 21 during which he allegedly failed to produce the proper identification and documents.

Discrepancies over the amount of community service he served has also been hanging over the hip-hop star, while the press are seemingly unwilling to forgive the star for his beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Last week, Brown hinted that he will release two more albums before retiring.

"Aspire to be great and the person you wanna be. Don't conform because ur worth is more than any money or status. We live. We die," he tweeted earlier this month.

X, the singer's sixth studio album is set for release on August 20, 2013 through RCA Records.
