Chris Brown has been released from jail after a man claimed that he had been punched by the R&B singer in Washington D.C. The singer is on five years' probation for attacking his ex-girlfriend, singer Rihanna, in 2009 but spent a night in police custody as a result of his alleged latest violent outburst.

Upon his release from police custody, Brown is said to be planning on starting a stint in rehab to work through his anger issues with a professional, according to his representative in a statement reported by BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat. His rep said that rehab would help the singer "continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point" and would help him to "gain focus and insight into his past and recent behaviour."

Brown's attorney, Mark Garagos, states that although Brown's rehab entry is not an admission of guilt with regards to the D.C. attack, he had entered an unnamed facility on Tuesday to deal with anger issues. "He just decided he wanted to take some time off and do some introspection," said Garagos.

The performer was arrested early on Sunday (27th Oct.) morning after a man, named as Parker Adams, accused him and his bodyguard, Chris Hollosy, of breaking his nose outside the W Hotel. Adams told police he'd tried to push his way into a photograph Brown was taking with a woman and her friend, according to court documents obtained by the BBC.

However, lawyer said Danny Onorato said "Christopher Brown committed no crime. We understand that his security staff acted to protect Mr Brown and Mr Brown's property as he was authorised to do under District of Columbia law. We are confident that Mr Brown will be exonerated of any wrongdoing."

Prosecutors changed his assault charge to a reduced misdemeanour offence which carries a six month jail term if he is convicted. Brown was accused of hit-and-run charges in August but was cleared after a judge ruled that he the woman he hit with his Range Rover had reached an agreement. If a judge decides to revoke his probation again at his next hearing on the 20th November, Chris could face four years in jail.

He is due back in court on the 25th November. Chris Brown's sixth album, X, is set to be released on the 19th November.
