Chirs Brown's felony assault charge has been reduced to a misdemeanor after the singer pleads not guilty.
Chris Brown was arrested along with his bodyguard in Washington DC on Sunday (Oct 24th) for assaulting a man outside their hotel.
The R&B singer allegedly attacked a man outside W Hotel on K Street around 4.30am after shouting gay slurs at him.
The police arrived on the scene, took the victim to hospital and transported Brown to the local police station where he remained incarcerated for the next 36 hours.
TMZ reported that the 24 year-old pleaded not guilty to the felony assault charge which, luckily for Brown, has now been reduced to a misdemeanour.
The 'Don't Wake Me Up' singer was released on Monday (Oct 28th) without bail. The court requires Brown and his bodyguard return to court on November 25th and until then they are to remain 100 yards away from the victim at all times.
The gossip website has also reported that an investigation will begin into Brown's DC arrest by the L.A. County Probation Dept. to determine if this was a violation of his probation in the Rihanna attack case.
The infamous beating of his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, occurred in 2009 and Brown's five year probation deal, which includes 1,400 hours of community service, doesn't end until next year in 2014.
The fight was reportedly due to the victim and his friend attempting to 'photobomb' a picture of Brown and two female fans, the singer obviously didn't see the funny side and apparently said, "I'm not into this gay s**t, I'm into boxing" before hitting the individual.
However, Brown's reps tell a different story. They claim the two men were attempting to board Chris' tour bus and he only tried to stop them from trespassing before things escalated.
If Brown is found to have violated his probation, the most severe punishment he could receive is up to 4 years in prison.
