This time, however, he is more prepared than ever to deal with the ever growing brutality of the ruffians out to kill him, and as usual he is prepared to be just as savage in order to survive. It's been a long time since any kind of law and order was held in the world, so sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. George Miller, the man who first brought Mad Max to the big screen returned to helm this new installment of the beloved post-apocalyptic action series. Gwyneth Paltrow Finds Googling Herself ‘Like War’ While Charlize Theron Likens It To ‘Rape’: Backlash Grows Over Actresses Insensitive Comments

Gwyneth Paltrow Charlize Theron

While speaking to tech site Re/Code on Tuesday (25th), Gwyneth Paltrow chose to liken reading negative comments about herself online to war. Then, days later, Charlize Theron caused outrage when she compared her experiences of Googling herself to rape in an interview with Sky News. Unsurprisingly both actresses' comments have been met with a furore of online backlash with many asking how the two women could be so insensitive.

Charlize TheronCharlize's comments have caused outrage in recent days

Paltrow said on Tuesday,”You come across [online comments] about yourself and your friends, and it’s a very dehumanising thing.” Adding “It’s almost like how, in war, you go through this bloody, dehumanising thing, and then something is defined out of it. My hope is, as we get out of it, we’ll reach the next level of conscience."

Did Charlize Theron Cross The Line When Comparing Intrusive Press To Rape?

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron may have gone too far with her most recent derogatory comments.

The 38 year-old actress is feeling the backlash of making a very inappropriate comparison while speaking with Sky news.

Press are known for being intrusive, but according to Theron, being subjected to the media's scrutiny is the same as being raped and that "every aspect" of her life is just "fodder for an article."

Charlize Theron Likens Press Intrusion To Rape As She Promotes 'A Million Ways'

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron has spoken out on the subject of the media and how she is tired of being pursued and scrutinised by the press at her every turn. The South African-born actress likened the media's feverish interest in her personal life to rape and didn't back down when challenged about the strong comparison she had just made.

"I don't [Google myself] - that's my saving grace," she told Sky News in a video interview as the conversation moved on to her portrayal in the gossip media. "When you start living in that world, and doing that, you start feeling raped," she added sternly.

When quizzed as to whether she meant to use rape as a comparable sentiment, the actress replied: "Well, when it comes to your son and your private life. Maybe it's just me. Some people might relish in all that stuff but there are certain things in my life that I think of as very sacred and I am very protective over them.

A Million Ways To Die In The West Review

Very Good

After the success of Ted, Seth MacFarlane gives himself his first leading-man role in this hilarious but overlong comedy-Western. The film is clearly a passion project, as it reveals MacFarlane's love of the genre with knowing jokes in between the usual gross-out humour. But it also feels stretched rather thin, and would feel even funnier with a zippier pace and tighter story.

In 1882 Arizona almost anything can kill you. Albert (MacFarlane) is a sheep farmer who has very little respect in his tiny frontier town. His girlfriend Louise (Amanda Seyfried) has just dumped him and taken up with smug Moustachery manager Foy (Neal Patrick Harris). And his best pal Edward (Giovanni Ribisi) has issues of his own, determined to wait until marriage to have sex with his fiancee, the town's most popular prostitute Ruth (Sarah Silverman). Then a stranger rides in: Anna (Charlize Theron) is trapped in a marriage to the local outlaw Clinch (Liam Neeson) and needs a place to hide. And in Albert she finds the kind of nice guy she thought didn't actually exist in the West.

MacFarlane's most clever decision was to surround himself with terrific actors who can effortlessly play both comedy and drama. As a result he just about gets away with a performance that doesn't stretch him at all. Theron is especially good, bringing an offhanded humour to her scenes that grounds the entire film. She may roll her eyes at the bad jokes while laughing openly at the good ones, but she stays firmly in character, which makes her scenes with MacFarlane and Neeson crackle with all kinds of romantic energy.

A Million Ways To Die In The West - Clip

Albert is a rather introverted sheep farmer who tries at all costs to avoid confrontation with the occasional gun-toting outlaw who may pass through the small Arizona town in which he lives. His reluctance to engage in any kind of combat has cost him his girlfriend, but on the upside, he's still alive - which is more than can be said for a large percentage of townspeople. There is danger is every turn and Albert is feeling a little low in confidence - that is, until the arrival of the town's feisty new resident Anna. She wants to show him how to aim and fire a loaded pistol and, generally, how to win a fight, which is just as well because one man is on his way over with the intention of dominating the town with his formidable reputation. Unfortunately for Albert, he's Anna's estranged husband and, with Albert having spent so much time with her, it is starting to look like he's finally run out of luck.

Ratings Up But That Won't Save Seth Macfarlane's Oscars Reviews

Seth Macfarlane Academy Of Motion Pictures And Sciences Mark Wahlberg Charlize Theron Jennifer Lawrence

They say that all publicity is good publicity, right? Though it has to be said, if Seth Macfarlane happens to be self-googling this morning, he will probably be questioning why they say that and whether it holds any truth at all. After Macfarlane shut the lid on his controversial Oscars hosting stint, the dust is still a long way from settling.

Macfarlane’s management of his hosting role resulted in him offending pretty much every minority group going, particularly women and Jews (and especially Jewish women, we expect). And judging by New York Times’ report on the matter, even the white middle-class males that for the leftover majority managed to be offended on behalf of and out of sympathy for everyone that was already offended. Academy member Lawrence Turman remarked “I think I’m a very liberal guy, but I actually winced.” Jewish groups have labeled the Family Guy creator as “offensive, unfunny and inappropriate,” the Daily Mail report, after his Ted alter-ego told Mark Wahlberg that he had to be Jewish if he wanted to work in Hollywood.

He also took a pop at Adele’s weight, Chris Brown and Rihanna’s relationship and a whole bunch of female Hollywood actresses, including Jennifer Lawrence and Charlize Theron, for daring to take their clothes off in movies. It’s not looking good for Macfarlane, who appears to have offended everyone in sight, if the headlines are to be believed (and the paragraphs after the headlines, containing all the evidence…) but hey, at least the ratings were up, eh, Seth!? That’s the main thing, right?

Eric Stonestreet, Charlize Theron: Are They Really Dating?

Eric Stonestreet Charlize Theron Halle Berry

Eric Stonestreet, Charlize Theron? Really? The Twitter universe came alive over the weekend with rumors that the Modern Family star was dating the Hollywood beauty. The story actually began in the pages of Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, which claimed “things are blossoming” between Stonestreet and Theron.

A ‘source’ told the newspaper, “Eric is down to earth and funny and Charlize thinks the world of him. It’s early days but they’re very fond of each other,” though funny-man Stonestreet quickly took to Twitter to silence the rumormongers in his own inimitable way, saying, “I wish people would stop spreading rumors that Charlize Theron and I are dating…It’s starting to make Halle Berry jealous.” The actor’s representative later issued a more formal denial of the story, telling People magazine, “There is nothing romantic going on between them. He has only met Charlize twice!” Despite Stonestreet rejecting the rumors, there was still speculation that Charlize and he would walk the red-carpet together at the 2012 Emmy Awards on Sunday.

In the end it wasn’t Theron – or Halle Berry for that matter – who accompanied the actor to the Emmys. Before the show, he tweeted, “Today I’m taking my best friend Paul to the Emmys. He dared me to audition for the first play I ever did.”

Prometheus Review

Excellent
There are clear echoes of Scott's last outer space thriller (1979's Alien) in this big, bold film, but this is something very different. It's certainly not a clear prequel. And even if the plot is full of holes, it's utterly mesmerising.

When archaeologists Shaw and Holloway (Rapace and Marshall-Green) figure out that ancient civilisations share a map to a specific star system, the Weyland CEO (Pearce) funds a two-year mission to get answers about the origin of humanity. Led by Weyland crony Vickers (Theron) and Captain Janek (Elba), Shaw and Holloway are accompanied by a helpful android (Fassbender) and a team of not-so-enthusiastic scientists. But what they find on this distant moon isn't what they expected, and the remnants of this civilisation aren't as dead as they seem.

Snow White And The Huntsman Review

Weak
There's an oddly over-serious tone to this fairy tale, as if the filmmakers thought they were making a massive action epic on par with The Lord of the Rings. But the plot has all the complexity of, well, a bedtime story. And a little more camp attitude would have helped.

After the gorgeous Ravenna (Theron) marries and then murders a benevolent widower king, she locks his beautiful daughter Snow White (Stewart) in a tower.

All the better to continue draining the youth from the entire kingdom. But just as she prepares to take the now of-age Snow's heart, Snow escapes into the woods, and Ravenna hires huntsman Eric (Hemsworth) to find her. Of course, Eric switches sides when he finds her, joining with Snow's childhood sweetheart William (Claflin) and a gang of dwarves to end the evil queen's reign.
