Charlie Sheen once tried to drag childhood pal Rob Lowe into a get-rich-quick scheme at the Emmy Awards - by asking him to read out his name as he announced the winner of a Best Actor trophy.
Lowe insists the star was deadly serious when he suggested they tried to scam the awards - and win big in Las Vegas.
He recalls, "At the Emmys a few years ago I was delivering the category of Best Lead Actor in a Comedy and Charlie was nominated; I hadn't talk to him for a while... He calls me up and said, 'Listen, I have a plan. The odds against me winning in Vegas are 36-1; I'll put a million dollars down, you read my name and I'll give you 70 per cent of the winnings.
"I hang up, laughing, and he calls me again and goes, 'Dude, I'm serious'.
"I said, 'Charlie, let me walk you through this... Here's the thing, they're gonna give me an envelope at the EmmYs, I'm gonna open it, it's going to say Alec Baldwin. What would you have me do with the thing that says Alec Baldwin?' He goes, 'You can eat it! I will come up, make a spectacle and you eat it very quickly.'"
