Charlie Sheen swapped fancy restaurants for a low-budget diner in honour of his best friend's 50th birthday.

The actor took his pal Tony Todd to Los Angeles' chain Norms, famed for its steak and eggs and greasy breakfasts, this week (beg09Jun14) as a treat to mark his milestone.

Sheen picked the restaurant over more fancy locations because the childhood friends used to regularly have breakfast there.

In a post on, Sheen writes, "Happy five Oh! to my main man... and a big ol thank u (sic) to the crew at Norms!"

He also posted a picture of the pals posing together at the diner, and adds to, "The MaSheen (sic) promised his bestie a meal out on the town, so what better spot than their old breakfast haunt, Norms!!"
