31-year-old Underwood is expecting her first child with professional Hockey player Mike Fisher. The couple have been together since 2008 and have been married for four years. Underwood, whilst appearing on the special, also made a special announcement and revealed the gender of her child, as E! reports. She's having a boy!
Underwood has previously described her excitement and disbelief at the prospect of becoming a parent. Underwood described the experience as 'unreal'. Speaking in September, Underwood said 'It's still kind of weird, to be honest. Sometimes I'll be with my husband, and it's like, 'I'm going be a mom. You're going be a dad. Is this real life?' But we're really excited.'
Underwood wore a midnight blue floor length gown complete with silver details around the shoulder straps and waist band. Underwood was not the only celebrity to choose a blue dress for the evening as one of Jennifer Nettles' outfits was a navy blue playsuit also with silver embellishments. Nettles was also acting as host for the special.
In addition to Underwood and Nettles, a whole host of performers graced the stage at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Brad Paisley and Steve Tyler teamed up for a special performance and Idina Menzel and Jennifer Nettles sang together. LeAnn Rimes, Hunter Hayes and Claire Bowen performed solos.
