Carrie Underwood has got engaged.

The 'American Idol' winner - who has kept her year-long relationship with Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher largely under wraps - is set to marry, her publicist has revealed.

The 26-year-old singer is yet to set a date for the wedding but "the couple couldn't be happier" announced Jessie Schmidt on Monday (21.12.09).

The country singer - who had the best-selling solo female debut album in country music history with 2005's 'Some Hearts' - recently spoke about how her family got on really well with Mike.

She said: "They love me and I would hope my parents would think we raised a good, smart girl, so she's going to do the right thing no matter what it is."

Carrie also gave Mike - who wears a number 12 jersey when playing - a very public shout-out in the sleeve notes of her current album, 'Play On', which was released on November 3.

She wrote, "Thank you number 12. You are the most amazing addition to my life! You are such a wonderful person and have had such an amazing hand in the building of this album and in the growth of me as a person. I love you so much! You make my life better in every way!"
