In a week when Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton had explicit pictures and videos leaked onto the internet, Sony releases 'Sex Tape'
It's difficult to figure out whether the illegal leak of hundreds - possibly thousands - of explicit images of celebrities is a good or bad thing for Sony and the release of Sex Tape. That question would probably have been far less difficult to answer had Cameron Diaz been on the list alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna and Kim Kardashian. All publicity is good publicity, right?
Cameron Diaz in 'Sex Tape'
Anyway, we imagine Sex Tape would probably have fared relatively well in the UK anyway and despite the internet (and those awful trailers) having you believe otherwise - this may even be worth the ticket price.

'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' has zoomed past its production budget to establish itself as a true hit of 2014.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes confirmed itself as one of the biggest cinematic success stories of 2014 this weekend, holding off three new releases to top the box office for a second successive week with £36 million. The critically acclaimed movie swatted away competition from all corners, with horror The Purge: Anarchy, children's animation Planes: Fire and Rescue and comedy Sex Tape all failing to land significant blows.

Following on from 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes, 'Dawn' benefitted from hugely positive reviews to take around half of its opening weekend haul of $72.6 million. The movie has grossed $138.9 million so far.
'Sex Tape' suffered from poor reviews, and things got worse at the box-office.
Sony's Cameron Diaz starrer Sex Tape opened to just $5.7 million on Thursday, tracking towards a $16 million overall weekend. The comedy, which cost $40 million, suffered frightfully bad reviews and scored just 19% on reviews aggregating website Rotten Tomatoes.

Elsewhere, the top movie on opening night was horror The Purge: Anarchy, which earned a solid $13 million. The original movie opened last June to a $16 million Friday and went on to gross $34 million on its opening weekend. Anarchy should gross around $27 million by the end of the weekend, three times its production budget.

If you have plans to see Cameron Diaz and Jason Segal in 'Sex Tape' this weekend, you may want to think twice after reading five of the worst reviews from critics.
Sex Tape has been universally panned by critics, which is hardly surprising considering its unimaginative title or what it deals with.

Even though the 41 year-old actress bares all in the upcoming comedy, she still loves being an actress: "I always take a moment to say, 'We're lucky. This is a great job. A fun job.'"
Cameron Diaz is known for being one of Hollywood's most beautiful women, mainly due to her desirable figure.
So when it comes to stripping off, she has nothing to worry about!
While featuring in several breath-taking snaps for Esquire magazine's August issue, the 41 year-old actress opened up about appearing nude for the first time ever on the big-screen in 'Sex Tape,' starring alongside Jason Segel.
Will Katie Holmes be able to distance herself from her Dawson's Creek role in a slew of upcoming films?
As the former wife of one of Hollywood’s most prolific and instantly recognisable screen icons, it is to be expected that Katie Holmes marriage to Tom Cruise will define much of her career for many years to come. What’s more, despite starring in such well-known and successful films as Batman Begins, Go and Phone Booth, she remains most well-known for her role as Joey Potter in the long-running series Dawson’s Creek.
Katie Holmes is attempting to re-establish herself as an actress.
The series, which details the lives of four teenagers through their growing pangs and adolescent tribulations ran for six seasons and 128 episodes, leaving Katie’s turn as the character Joey Potter left burned onto the minds of much of the American public. So far, efforts to distance herself from the role have been largely unsuccessful but an upcoming slew of films sees Katie making her most concerted effort to redefine herself as a talented and versatile actress.

The 41 year-old actress chose not to 'Plead the Fifth', and gave a very honest answer, when asked by Andy Cohen if she had ever been with a women.
Cameron Diaz is very experimental when it comes to the bedroom.
The 41 year-old actress revealed that she has had sexual experiences with other women in the past.
The admission came when appearing on Andy Cohen's 'Watch What Happens Live,' in the famed 'Plead the Fifth' segment.
The female ensemble cast team together to earn $23.7 million on opening weekend and earn the box office top spot.
The female-powered comedy, 'The Other Woman,' proved to be the favourite amongst cinemagoers this weekend as it finally dethroned Marvel's 'Captain America: The Winter Solider' at the North American box office after reigning No.1 for the past three weeks by earning $24.7 million on opening weekend.
Cameron Diaz starring in 'The Other Woman'
The 20th Century Fox flick, which is a women's revenge plot on a cheating male, stars an ensemble cast headed by Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Nicki Minaj and sees 21 year-old Kate Upton land her first starring role.
Is The Other Woman the movie you should go this this weekend? Probably not, even if you do love Leslie Mann.
If you’re thinking about what new movie to see this weekend, The Other Woman might just be topping your list. It looks fun, has two very likeable female leads (plus a Sports Illustrated model) and it’s directed by the man behind The Notebook. Also it might have you think that it holds some kind of great female empowerment message as the three unite against a cheating spouse. But the reality is it looks like The Other Woman might be best left alone this weekend, as the critics are indicating that this one might be a bit too much farce and not enough comedy.
The plot of The Other Woman is actually pretty simple, Kate, played by Leslie Mann, finds out her husband Mark is cheating on her with Carly (Cameron Diaz). Rather than hate each other, the two women actually find out they have a surprising amount in common and become good friends. Then they learn that Mark has another woman, the 20 something Amber, played by Kate Upton. After the extent of his dastardliness is revealed all three women team up to plot their revenge on Mark with schemes such as putting Nair in his shampoo and adding female hormones to his juice.
The Other Woman follows in the footsteps of The First Wives Club, and Bridesmaids.
The 2011 breakout hit Bridesmaids seems to have made a permanent shift in gender dynamics of big Hollywood comedies. No longer happy to exist as idealised love interests, women are finally taking over. Bridesmaids scene-stealer Melissa McCarthy flexed her muscles further opposite Sandra Bullock in the buddy action-comedy The Heat.
And now Cameron Diaz pushes boundaries with her new comedy The Other Woman, which lays to rest the usual bitch-slap storyline. In this film, when a woman (Leslie Mann) discovers that her husband (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is having an affair or two, instead of take on the other woman in a battle to the death, the wife teams up with his two mistresses (Diaz and Kate Upton) to get even.
Continue reading: Is 'The Other Woman' The New 'Bridesmaids'?
While the story isn't particularly original, and the movie tends to drift over the top into broad slapstick, this comedy wins us over due to the camaraderie between the characters. Most refreshingly, this is a film about women teaming up rather than scratching each others' eyes out. So it continually catches us off guard in all the right ways.
In Manhattan, lawyer Carly (Cameron Diaz) has finally met the perfect man in Mark (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). But just as their relationship is about to shift into something much more serious, she discovers that he has a wife, Kate (Leslie Mann), in the suburbs. Shocked, Carly and Kate realise that Mark is the person they should be angry at, so they team up to get even. When they discover that he has another mistress, Amber (Kate Upton), they recruit her to their plan as well. And then they find evidence that his business dealings are more than a little dodgy.
While the plot lends itself to a blackly comical approach, director Nick Cassavetes instead keeps everything silly and simplistic, letting the actresses overplay their scenes. Sometimes this results in something rather hilarious, but it also undermines any credibility the story might have. Mann and Coster-Waldau are the most guilty in this sense, chomping madly on the scenery. Instead, it's the way each character works together that brings the situations to life and keeps us laughing. Although a more confident approach to the material would have made the film much stronger.

The television adaptation of the Cameron Diaz movie premieres tonight on CBS.
Brand new comedy series Bad Teacher is set to premiere on CBS tonight, adapting the 2011 Cameron Diaz movie for the small screen with Fringe's Ari Graynor in the driving seat as the titular inept educator. Graynor stars as Meredith Graynor, a sassy blonde trophy wife who finds herself divorced and broke due to the pre-nup.
'Bad Teacher' Lead Ari Graynor Is A Different Kettle Of Fish To Cameron Diaz.
Embellishing her C.V. with fairly ludicrous claims, Meredith takes a teaching job at a local middle school in order to meet rich, divorced dads. She quickly wins over the emotionally needy principal (David Alan Grier), simultaneously befriends and takes advantage of nerdy teacher (Sara Gilbert) and clashes with the staff queen bee and fellow teacher Ginny (Kristin Davis).
The critics have their say on "The Other Woman", and it isn't pretty
In The Other Woman, there are three ‘other women. Cameron Diaz, a lawyer who finds out her ‘boyfriend’ has a wife. The wife (Leslie Mann). And then there’s Kate Upton, who is the girl Mark King is cheating on with the aforementioned woman. That’s The Other Woman.
Upton, Diaz and Mann set about their revenge in "The Other Woman"
The three combine their best assets (Diaz has the brains as she’s a lawyer and Mann’s anger comprises the second spike in a trident completed by Upton’s boobs) to take this piece of work down. It’s a film about empowering women, apparently.
Quvenzhane Wallis stars in the new trailer
The youngest ever Oscar nominee, Quvenzhane Wallis – with a touch of autotune thrown in for good measure - plays the iconic and titular role of Annie in Columbia Pictures’ upcoming modernisation of the classic, 1977 Broadway smash, 1982 film and 1999 TV-movie.

Kate Upton dazzled at the Dutch premiere, leaving Leslie Mann and Cameron Diaz's flirtation in the past.
Who knew that a simple, playful grab of a friend's derriere could generate so much gossip! This is what Leslie Mann has been finding out after said incident at the London premiere of revenge comedy The Other Woman. No one else got a look in apart from the three, blonde leading ladies Mann, Kate Upton and Cameron Diaz - especially when Leslie decided to display her fondness for Cameron's leather-clad backside in front of the paparazzi.

Cameron Diaz and Jason Segal's new movie 'Sex Tape' looks at the results of a raunchy home movie being released. These celebrities all have sex tapes, but are they quite as embarrassed?
If one of us regular folk filmed ourselves doing the nasty and then the tape was leaked, life as we know it would be over. Most of us can’t think of anything more mortifying than other people seeing us in the throes of lust, as Cameron Diaz and Jason Segal discover in their new movie ‘Sex Tape’.
These celebs, however, see ‘leaked’ sex tapes as a career tool and for most of them it’s not exactly been an embarrassment for the world to see them bumping uglies.

One couple fall victim to the perils of the internet age in this hilarious new comedy.
The red band trailer has been released for the hilarious new comedy, Sex Tape, which stars Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel as two characters who, as the title suggests, make a saucy home movie. The Jake Kasdan-directed flick embraces the digital age and its related contemporary concerns whilst exploiting the fear of having your most intimate information unstoppably leaked throughout cyberspace.
'Sex Tape' Sees Cameron Diaz & Jason Segel Explore The Perils Of Trying To Spice Up Their Sex Life In The Internet Age.
Guided by the seasoned comic talents of Bad Teacher's Diaz and How I Met Your Mother's Segel, Sex Tape sees the two unite as a couple named Jay and Annie who, after ten years and two children together, decide to film themselves having sex in order to spice up their sex life. The pair try out numerous positions in an extensive, three-hour home movie and collapse, drained of energy.
Jay and Annie once had a thriving sexual relationship, but now they've been together for ten years and have two children, things are going a little stale. They haven't been properly passionate in months and its starting to take its toll on them both. In a daring move to regain that spark that attracted them to each other in the first place, Annie suggests that she and Jay make a sex tape. The decide to film themselves trying out a variety of different positions in a 3 hour long romp captured on Jay's iPad. Unfortunately, they failed to notice as they were sleeping it off that the video had been uploaded to his Cloud account and thus shared with the entire public. With their professional reputations at risk if their bosses get hold of the film, they make an attempt to steal their iPads while simultaneously trying to find a way to get the tape 'out of the cloud'.
'Sex Tape' is a remarkable comedy about the tragic but true tales of modern technology - and how it frequently betrays us. It has been directed by Golden Globe nominated Jake Kasdan ('Bad Teacher', 'Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story') and written by Kate Angelo ('The Back-up Plan'), and is due to be released in the UK on September 5th 2014.

Cameron Diaz waves at fans and photographers as she arrives at Barnes & Noble Union Square in New York City to present her new self-help book 'The Body Book: The Law of Hunger, the Science of Strength, and Other Ways to Love Your Amazing Body'.
Cameron Diaz's new wellbeing book for women has a whole chapter dedicated to the positive aspects of pubic hair, titled 'In Praise Of Pubes'.
And she covers EVERY aspect of the body!
The Hollywood actress's first attempt in the world of publishing sees her delve into the issues women face with pubic hair, in fact a whole chapter covers it.
From the director of 'The Notebook' comes this unconventional girls-night revenge comedy.
It's the relationship scenario every woman dreads: you meet a new guy and he's handsome, funny and intelligent but your bubble of bliss is burst when you realise you're not the only one. The Other Woman does a wonderful job of exploring this nightmarish situation but turning it on its head in a hilarious revenge comedy.
Cameron Diaz plays a woman who finds said perfect bloke but soon discovers he is married to Leslie Mann's character. The pair initially clash in horror at the situation but after spending a little time together, realise they have more in common than previously assumed.
One woman thinks she's on a roll with the first serious boyfriend she's had in months; he's handsome, successful, rich. as well as a total liar. When he ventures off to his home in Connecticut to investigate a 'burst pipe', the woman goes round later to surprise him - only to find that the house is also occupied by his wife. In a bid to talk things over, the wife visits Woman A at her apartment and, before you know it, the girls are at a bar downing shots and generally being best pals. However, things get even more complicated when they discover their man is also seeing yet another woman - a gorgeous busty blonde - and the three cheated women decide to plot revenge. With the wife slipping female hormones into his morning beverages and all three women discovering his fraudulent business secrets, this man is about to realise that having mistresses is a very bad idea.
'The Other Woman' is a new comedy from director Nick Cassavetes ('The Notebook', 'Alpha Dog', 'My Sister's Keeper') which has been written by Melissa Stack ('Tependris Rising') in her full-length film debut. It is the live action film debut of Nicki Minaj (who previously voiced Steffie in 'Ice Age: Continental Drift') and it is set to hit the UK on April 23rd 2014.
This film proves that all the right ingredients don't necessarily make a movie work. Even with top-drawer filmmakers and actors, this dramatic thriller simply never grabs our interest. It looks great, and everyone is giving it their all, but the story and characters remain so badly undefined that we can't identify with either.
The story's set on the US-Mexico border, where a slick lawyer (Fassbender) known as "the Counsellor" has slightly too much going on in his life. He has just proposed to his dream woman Laura (Cruz), while he's planning to open a nightclub with Reiner (Bardem). For extra cash, he's organising a massive cocaine shipment with Westray (Pitt). And it's this drug deal that goes wrong, creating a mess that engulfs Reiner and Laura, as well as Reiner's shrewd girlfriend Malkina (Diaz). As his life collapses around him, the Counsellor scrambles to salvage what he can, even as he realises that it'll be a miracle if anyone survives.
There are problems at every level of this production. McCarthy's first original script is simply too literary, putting verbose dialog into the actors mouths that never sounds like people talking to each other. Fassbender and Bardem are good enough to get away with this, but Pitt and Diaz struggle. Both Fassbender and Cruz bring out some wrenching emotions in their scenes, but their characters are never much more than cardboard cutouts. In fact, no one in this story feels like a fully fleshed-out person. And the little we know about each character makes most of them fairly unlikeable.

After three weeks at the top, 'Gravity' may have finally been ousted from the top spot of the US box office by the latest 'Jackass' outing
Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa is predicted to earn close to $30 million at the box office in it's opening weekend, according to Deadline, making it the most likely candidate to finish at the top of the box office come the end of the week. This means that after three weeks of dominating the US box office, Gravity may finally be replaced as America's favourite movie at cinemas.
Bad Grandpa should be an easy weekend winner
Depending on what side of the $30 mil. mark it lands on, the film can become either the third or fourth most successful R-rated film of the year in terms of opening box office revenue. Should the film exceed expectations even further, it could potentially place even higher. The film already made an estimated $11 - 12 mil. on the opening day of the weekend - Friday, 25 October - and could be well on its way to exceeding the $30 mil. mark should the numbers continue to add up. Not bad for a film that only cost $15 million to make.
After playing comical sidekicks in rom-coms like No Strings Attached and What Happens in Vegas, Lake Bell emerges as a rising-star filmmaker with the smartest, funniest comedy of the year. Winner of the screenwriting award at Sundance, this script is painfully hilarious, drawing on the characters' personalities to take us into a previously unseen side of the movie industry. It's also a rare Hollywood movie that refuses to shy away from anything.
We're talking about voiceover artists here, specifically those who provide the rumbling commentary for movie trailers. The late Don LaFountaine was the voice behind all of those iconic "In a world..." trailers, and now a studio wants to revive them for a new epic quadrilogy. The top contender for the job is Sam (Melamed), a veteran who decides to let his protege, the egotistical womaniser Gustav (Marino), have the job. Then Sam's voice-coach daughter Carol (Bell) throws her hat in the ring, which is unthinkable because a woman has never narrated this kind of trailer. She prepares for the audition with the help of a love-struck sound engineer (Martin), but is distracted by issues between her sister and brother-in-law (Watkins and Corddry) and the fact that her dad's new girlfriend (Holden) is younger than she is.
Bell juggles all of these plot strands brilliantly as a writer, director and actor, generously giving her costars the most riotously funny dialog while Carol pings around between them. And since we see everything through her eyes, she emerges as a hugely engaging woman who is smart, skilled and also likeably flawed. Every performance is natural and amusing, with the kind of astutely witty dialog actors can really sink their teeth into. And there are some uproarious cameos along the way, including Offerman as a wry colleague, Davis as a studio head, Longoria as a vocal client and Diaz as the star of a Hunger Games-style saga.

We take a look at the front-runners and underdogs for next year's Oscars ceremony.
Six months of anticipation for four hours of award giving: that’s what you signed up for. The Oscars 2014 has its host, and now it has its favorites. Which director will be hurtling through an acceptance speech at breakneck speed, and which actor will be practising their sad-yet-humble loser face?
It’s Oscars season.
We can't think of a more pleasing concoction.
In what can only be described as a monolithic prospect, screen stars Marion Cotillard and Michael Fassbender will unite to portray Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The French actress will play Lady Macbeth, while Fassbender fulfils the titular role.
Cotillard stars in David Bowie's video for The Next Day alongside Gary Oldman
Natalie Portman was set to play the powerful character in See-Saw Film’s cinematic adaptation of the classic, but given that she’s all set to helm her directorial debut - A Tale Of Love And Darkness – Cotillard has stepped in.

It’s all very sleek; shiny cars, handsome people, phone conversations that don’t end with a goodbye. That’s the world Michael Fassbender lives in, probably in real life, but most prominently, in The Counselor, Ridley Scott’s taut looking new thriller, which has a sexy new trailer.
Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt in The Counselor
This is Cormac McCarthy’s screenwriting debut, and it’s a highly anticipated debut considering the success of his novels, and the subsequent translation of The Road from page to screen. Scott provides the visual pedigree, having helmed such cinematic behemoths as Gladiator and Prometheus.
