Mandel was presenting Harris with the Future Icon Award at the 50th anniversary of Caesar's Palace gala in Las Vegas at the weekend.
Calvin Harris was left feeling slightly sheepish when Howie Mandel made a rather teasing pun about his former relationship with Taylor Swift when he was compering the Caesar’s Palace 50th anniversary gala at the weekend in Las Vegas.
The 60 year old ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge blindsided Harris with the crack, when he commented upon his choice of suit as he presented the Scottish DJ with the Future Icon Award on Sunday night (August 7th).
“That's a nice suit. Who's your tailor?” Mandel quipped. “See what I did?” Following that pun, the audience laughed in appreciation while Harris smirked and looked a bit embarrassed. “You got that prepared,” he said, smiling. “You had that one ready.”
Swift and 32 year old Harris dated for 15 months going back to early 2015. Everything seemed pretty ideal between them, with reports that Harris was even going to propose to the 26 year old singer. However, in May this year, they suddenly fell apart, with Swift then going on to date English actor Tom Hiddleston a matter of weeks after the split, which has been one of the most high-profile celebrity news stories of the year.
“It's an honor to be here,” he told the crowd, accepting his award and taking things a little more seriously. “I don't do this thing that often. I don't receive these kind of awards very often either. It's a great honor to be here.” Erm, you have a Grammy, Calvin?
It seems as though Harris – real name Adam Wiles – is simply going to have to put up with this sort of thing from now on. He’s been single since the split, although he has been rumoured to have been dating R&B singer and former collaborator Tinashe.
