Opera singer Bryn Terfel's Welsh music festival has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
The Faenol Festival, featuring groups including Athlete, Westlife and Shed Seven, was due to be held in north Wales later this month (27-29Aug10).
But the event has been called off because of poor ticket sales - and Terfel admits he's saddened by the decision to axe the festival.
In a post on the event's website, he writes, "Unfortunately, advance ticket sales in this challenging economic climate have not been sufficient for us to feel confident that we can move ahead with the full festival.
"I know many of you will be as disappointed as I am. All I can say is that we have looked at the situation in great detail and from every possible angle. We have found no other workable solution."
Ticketholders are entitled to a refund or can alternatively choose to see Irish band Westlife, who will now play their scheduled show at the nearby Venue Cymru in Llandudno on 27 August (10).
