The actor's demands of $1 million-a-day were just too much for the film's producers, so Willis walked away from the project, only to be replaced by Harrison Ford
Bruce Willis was set to become the latest action star to join forces with Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the rest in the upcoming Expendables 3. Unfortunately though, Willis won't be channelling his inner John McClane in the next Expendables film after all, as the Hollywood Reporter have revealed that due to contract disagreements, the actor has decided to walk away from the project.
Bruce demanded too much money from the Expendables team
On Tuesday (6 August), Stallone tweeted that Willis was out of the upcoming action project and Harrison Ford was in. He then went on to tweet, "GREEDY AND LAZY ...... A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE," to allude to his wage demands, but didn't follow-up his message with any kind of explanation as to why this happened. A day later, THR cleared up any confusion by confirming the reason behind Willis' axing, saying that it was his massive wage demands that made him surplus to requirements on the film. According to THR, Willis was offered $3 million to feature in the film, meaning he would have to take four days out of his busy schedule to film scenes on location in Bulgaria. It turns out that Willis wanted $1 million-per-day, threatening to walk away from the project if his demands weren't meant.
WILLIS OUT... HARRISON FORD IN !!!! GREAT NEWS !!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!

A source close to the situation told THR that "[Willis] said he'd drop out unless he got $4 million," to which "Stallone and everybody else involved said no."
Stallone then quickly spoke with Ford and within 72 hours the whole situation was resolved. The source added, "I think [Willis] was pretty surprised he was replaced in 72 hours by Harrison Ford — a better actor, a much nicer person and a more interesting direction for the film."

Willis has yet to respond to the story and give his own side of things, but for those of you wanting more John McClane, there is supposedly a sixth Die Hard film on the way, so the wait won't be too long.
The Expendables 3, which stars Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke and Wesley Snipes alongside Stallone, Ford and Schwarzenegger, and is set to be released in August 2014.
Harrison Ford will be replacing Willis in the third edition of the film series
