Brittany Murphy's 'Something Wicked' To Be Released, Other Posthumous Movie Releases

Brittany Murphy’s final movie ‘Something Wicked’ is due to be released over four years since her tragic and ambiguous death. The plot focuses on a young couple who find themselves faced with a past that they had hoped would remain buried. Murphy died in 2009, after allegedly being stricken with acute pneumonia and severe anemia. The same results were found on her husband, Simon Monjack’s post mortum, when he died just five months after her.

Over the past 15 years Brittany Murphy is not the only star to die before their latest project is released. Oliver Reed suffered a heart attack whilst filming Ridley Scott’s Gladiator, which came out in 2000. The movie was completed using CGI and a stunt double to finish his scenes.  Those of you who have seen the movie can appreciate quite how flawlessly this was done, it's virtually impossible to tell that Reed isn't in certain scenes.

Dumbledore, sorry, Richard Harris, died before the release of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in 2002. He was replaced for the following movies with actor Michael Gambon.

One of the most talented young actors, Heath Ledger, died before the release of The Dark Knight, in which he played The Joker, a role which won him a posthumous Oscar. Ledger was also midway through filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, his scenes were completed by Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp.

Film director and producer, Tony Scott, committed suicide before the release of his final movie Stoker.  Scott was a cult director, with True Romance and Enemy of the State under his belt.

Glee star Cory Monteith overdosed on heroin in July 2013, before the release of his crime-drama McCanick. The movie is due for release on March 21st and also stars David Morse and Mike Vogel.

The world was stunned and saddened by the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman earlier this year. Hoffman was a virtuoso of his trade, and it was a tragedy to lose such a tremendous talent. His final movies, the last two installments of The Hunger Games franchise, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and Part 2 will be released in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Following Paul Walker’s death, the writers of Fast & Furious 7 rewrote part of the script to accommodate for his loss. The movie will tastefully retire Walker, rather than seeing him killed off. His movies Hours was released after his death, while another movie Brick Mansion is due for release in April this year.
