Brittany Murphy's father has slammed the upcoming Lifetime movie about his daughter.

He hit out at the film on Examiner.com, stating "I am disgusted and outraged that Lifetime decided to produce such a trashy project, defiling the memory of my beautiful, talented daughter. The Brittany Murphy Story is an affront to everything my daughter was in real life. It’s hideous, unauthorized and completely untrue."
Bertolotti also expressed his disbelief at the curious casting of Amanda Fuller, saying "the girl playing Brittany, looks nothing like her." Sure enough in the trailer for the televison movie, it's hard to really see any resemblence between Fuller and Murphy.
Murphy passed away suddenly in 2009 at the age of thirty-two. Her tragic death remains unexplained, and the following year her husband Simon Monjack was found dead at the same residence in similarly strange circumstances. Previously her father has suggested that his daughter could have been poisoned with heavy metals, a claim which Murhy's mother refutes, and but it seems this Lifetime movie is going down the route of a murder mystery in their telling of events.
A star of movies including Clueless and Sin City, Murphy had a promising career that was cut tragically short by her death. Her last project, Something Wicked, is due to be released this year, five years after her death.
Lifetime have been known for their controversial projects before, most recently with the announced Aaliyah film, which Disney star Zendaya Coleman walked away from in July. She was replaced by Alexandra Shipp.
The Brittany Murphy Story will air this Saturday.
