Are you prepared for a new and utterly terrifying breed of horror movie? One which not only combines the threat of a 60,000 year old monster with the unknown of the deep, dark ocean but also adds in a little classic B-movie acting and some astoundingly shoddy special effects for some full-throttle horror. Ladies and gentlemen, we present Poseidon Rex, the story of a very angry undersea reptile.

Brian Krause Confronts A New Foe In 'Poseidon Rex,' Headed To US Shores.

Poseidon Rex chilled Britain to the core when it was released on DVD only last fall but the fear in America is about to be cranked up a notch when Mark L. Lester's robust sci-fi horror finds its audience in movie theaters upon its premiere on the 18th April. "Half dinosaur, half sea monster, full trouble!" roars the film's strapline as we're faced with an apocalyptic scene of dino destruction.

Rex has received inevitable comparisons to the legendary Sharknado and the disturbing Sharktopus movies, each of which combine some of man's greatest fears and foes to devastatingly scary effect. Jackson Slate (Brian Krause) is a deep sea treasure hunter who is out to find the legendary Lost Gold Of Cortez in the open waters off a secluded island in the Caribbean Sea.

Using dynamite to blast his way through centuries of silt, new chasms are created reaching miles below the ancient ocean floor. Unbeknownst to the treasure seekers, an ancient evil that has lain dormant for thousands of years wakes up on the wrong side of its bed. Poseidon Rex furiously and swiftly rises from the ocean and destroys Jackson s boat and kills his crew.

What follows is a seemingly unstoppable rampage of terror as the bad-tempered creature proves its skill for agility in water and on land. Jackson must team up with marine biologist, Sarah (Anne McDaniels), to venture back to the site, investigate the horrific events and put a stop to Rex and its offspring's reign of terror before the whole island is destroyed.

Written by Rafael Jordan ('Yeti: Curse of the Snow Demon,' 'Rise of the Dinosaurs'), Poseidon Rex evokes the overwhelming threat of Godzilla mixed with the nonsense hybridisation of Sharknado with a few more explosions and bikinis thrown in. And with two characters credited as "Goon #1" and "Goon #2" in the cast list, can you afford to miss this landmark B-movie experience?

Poseidon Rex will be released on the 18th April in the UK.
