It looks as if Brad Pitt’s next project will be a ‘romantic thriller’ coming from Academy Award winning director Robert Zemeckis. The film will be produced by Paramount and New Regency, who confirmed Pitt’s casting on Friday.

Brad PittPitt has signed on to the World War II romantic thriller

Little is known about the as yet untitled movie so far, other than that it is set during World War II and is said to be ‘epic’ in scope. The script has been written by Steven Knight who just penned Pitt’s World War Z sequel which is currently in development.

Producing alongside Zemeckis will be Graham King's GK Films, who also produced Word War Z and is reported to be working with Knight on a remake of the French thriller Le Cercle Rouge, which has been reworked for Hong Kong.

Pitt was last seen on screen in Fury, another World War II drama, directed by David Ayer and co-starring Shia LaBeouf and Michael Peña.

The 51 year old is currently working on relationship drama By The Sea in which he will star alongside wife Angelina Jolie, who will also be directing the film and has written the screenplay. It will be produced by Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment.

Zemeckis was last behind the camera for 2012's Flight, starring Denzel Washington, which took over $150 million at the worldwide box office and earned two Academy Award nominations.

His next feature, The Walk is currently in post production and slated for an October 2015 release. Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, it tells the true story of of French high-wire artist Philippe Petit, who on August 7th 1974 walked between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.
