Brad Pitt's production company Plan B Entertainment has secured the rights to Anonymous vs Steubenville - a Rolling Stone article by David Kushner about the online vigilante Deric Lostutter's role in a landmark rape case. Pitt and the team behind 12 Years A Slave have been planning this movie for a while, though things are now official.

Hactivist Lostutter helped expose a town-wide cover-up of a teenage girl's rape by two high school football player, bringing charges to the rapists and helping get the high school superintendent, the principal and two high school coaches indicted for concealing the truth - all this while himself risking a 20-year sentence.
Lostutter will serve as the movie's protagonist, with the suggestion being that it will focus on hacker group Anonymous as a whole, rather than the specifics of the case.
Lostutter himself confirmed the news on Twitter, saying, "All I can say until further notice from my agent and lawyer is it's real, it's been in the works for a while now, and no further comment."

The as-yet untitled movie will be co-produced by New Regency, with no word on any castings yet.
Brad Pitt's schedule looks pretty clear for the next year, having completed shooting on David Ayer's World War II action-drama Fury. The actor plays army sergeant Wardaddy, who commands a Sherman tank and its five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines.
