Review of Elios Therepia 12" Single by Blue States

7. Blue States Elios Therepia 12 (12" - (Memphis Industries) )
The applause raised the roof when Blue States recently released their debut album Nothing Changes Under the Sun and now comes the second single from the album in question. The Greek title is there for reason as Andy Dragazis wrote this track as homage to his Greek Grandmother (and they say us youngsters are thoughtless!). And just to keep her happy hes stuck quite faithfully to the sound of traditional Greek, feet-in-the-air music.

An unusual but charming musical concoction with enough oomph to get you in the mood for a summers evening bop. Tummy Touchs Patrick Dawes trickles in his parochial lunacy and plumped-up percussion. Then, not content with dishing out a more than decent A Side, Blue States man us with 2 further tunes. This time without the Greek capabilities. Instead are the Brazilian twangs of Sloth and Chunk in..The Man from Comet and the string-swathed Daystar - a track that makes you think this man should really be writing film scores. Excellente!
