The 17 year old and her pro partner look like they’re having the time of their life rehearsing for Monday’s ‘Dancing With The Stars’.
Bindi Irwin and her ‘Dancing With The Stars’ pro partner Derek Hough are set to pay tribute to classic 80’s movie, Dirty Dancing on Monday’s edition of the ABC show. The pair have been practising hard for the upcoming routine, even taking to the water to really get the feel of Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey's characters.
Posting an image of himself on Instagram lifting Irwin below a still of Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze in the iconic film, Hough wrote, ‘What an honour to pay homage to this iconic dance film. " Nobody puts Bindi in the corner.’
Hough also spoke about the routine on his TV Guide blog, revealing the pair were awaiting a visit from Jennifer Grey and also drawing parallels between the character of Baby and Bindi Irwin. ‘(Jennifer Grey’s) actually stopping by rehearsals today to check us out,’Hough wrote.
‘We can't disappoint her! I guess it was easy to give us Dirty Dancing because of my connection to Jennifer, but I think there are actually a lot of parallels between the movie and Bindi. Baby's 17 in the movie and so is Bindi. Baby wants to change the world. That's Bindi. Even Bindi's laughs when she gets goofy are so Jennifer. She's my Baby Bindi!’
The show’s official Instagram also shared a pic of the duo during rehearsals with the caption, ‘Nobody puts @Bindisueirwin in a corner! #FamousDances #DWTS.’ Irwin and Hough will perform the routine as part of Monday’s ‘Famous Dances’ episode of the competition, where the guest judge will be Olivia Newton-John.
The 17 year old daughter of the late crocodile hunter Steve Irwin has emerged as one of the favourites to take home the mirrorball trophy, after consistently delivering high-scoring performances. In the first week of the competition Irwin performed an emotional routine to Elton John’s ‘Crocodile Rock’ in memory of her late father.
