Actress Billie Piper has admitted missing being a part of hit BBC series Doctor Who.

Billie played Rose Tyler, a companion to the doctor in the show and received rave reviews for her performance, including the most popular actress category at the 2005 and 2006 National Television Awards.

Although the star, 24, decided the time was right to leave the show earlier this year, she has admitted she still gets a few jealous pangs that she is no longer part of The Cult show.

She said: "I still desperately miss Rose and everyone at Doctor Who. I'm jealous that I'm no longer part of it and I'm trying to keep the green-eyed monster at bay, but on the whole it felt like the right thing to do."

Billie, who rose to fame as a teenage pop star, added: "I'd done two series, and each one takes nine months to shoot. I got so close to everybody that I thought if I didn't ever leave I'd be too scared to ever go, and I'd get complacent."

Rumours of a return to the show are rife among Doctor Who fans but have been denied.
