Whilst Scarlett Lacey is writing a reboot of the original 'Hocus Pocus' Disney movie, fans are still crying out for an official sequel of the original, hoping for returning cast members for the flick rather than a completely new batch of talent. That doesn't look to be happening, and now the film's former leading star Bette Midler has said she's not interested in making a comeback for the Disney Channel reboot.

Still in development and with the original film's producer David Kirschner signed on, there are high expectations surrounding the flick, but fans aren't convinced it will be able to live up to the lofty success the first movie has seen in the years since it first debuted.

'Hocus Pocus' director Kenny Ortega won't be involved in the new project however, and Midler's fellow cast mates Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker won't be making a return.

Asked by PEOPLE about the planned remake, Midler responded: "I know it's cheap. It's going to be cheap!"

She added: "I'm not sure what they're going to do with my character. My character is very, very broad and I don't know who they're going to find to play that," before adding that she wouldn't be interested in being a part of the reboot.

The comments don't come as surprising for those of us who have kept a close eye on any news regarding 'Hocus Pocus', as Midler, Parker and Najimy had all expressed an interest in taking part in a proper sequel for the first film. Unfortunately, fan demand and the trio's interest wasn't enough for Disney to pull the trigger, with the company instead allowing their official channel to do something different entirely.

Whether or not that ends up in a success remains to be seen, but we imagine there's going to be a huge backlash if the film doesn't tick all of the right boxes for fans...
