Beth Ditto officially tied the knot with her partner Kristin Ogata in a ceremony on New Year's Eve (31.12.14), 17 months after they committed themselves to each other in a non-legally binding ceremony in Hawaii.
Beth Ditto has got married.
The 33-year-old singer officially wed her partner Kristin Ogata in Oregon on New Year's Eve (31.12.14) after 15 years of friendship and four years of dating.
The Gossip lead singer originally got hitched to her girlfriend in a non-legally binding ceremony in Maui, Hawaii in July 2013, but waited until same-sex marriage became legal in their home state before tying the knot.
Writing on Facebook earlier this week, she said: ''Legally married finally, a year later!
''Thanks everyone who fought to make gay marriage legal in Oregon! In 2015, the whole US!''
The 'Standing in the Way of Control' hitmaker's spokesperson confirmed the news in a statement to gossip blogger Perez Hilton, saying, ''Since gay marriage just recently became legal in Oregon, they got legally married on Dec 31st.''
Details of the couple's nuptials have not been revealed, but it is believed they opted for smart attire once again, with Beth wearing a Jean Paul Gautier gown for her 2013 ceremony, at which Kristin rocked a three-piece short suit.
Despite being best friends for several years and Kristin being her assistant, Beth - whose real name is Mary Beth Patterson - previously explained it was a difficult decision to start seeing her, because she had been in a nine-year relationship with transgender boyfriend Freddie Fagula before they began dating in 2010.
She said: ''It was something that I kept hidden deep inside of me. But everyone knew. Even people are parties and clubs would be like, 'When are they going to get together?' There was always a little guilt inside of me because I felt I was cheating, but I never cheated. We never did anything ... I dated Freddie for nine years, and I was always worried it was going to end. With Kristen I never worry about it ending, I just feel completely full and whole.''
