The stage version of the hit film, which tells the story of a London-based Indian girl who loves soccer, opened in the U.K. capital on Wednesday (24Jun15).

Chadha has now revealed that as soon as the women's team return from the ongoing Women's World Cup in Canada, she will invite them to a performance of the play.

She tells BBC, "It's fantastic timing for us that it's the Women's World Cup. It's even greater news that the England team are doing so well. As soon as they get back to Heathrow (airport) that's the first thing we're going to do - invite them all, and maybe they'll take a bow themselves."

The play, which stars Harry Potter actor Jamie Campbell Bower, is running at London's Phoenix Theatre until October (15).
