Recent years in cinema have been plagued by a spate of ill-advised re-makes of classic noughties comedies. Seriously, nobody would wish a screening of the appalling sequels to Anchorman or Zoolander on their worst enemy.

However, the team behind the 2004 comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story have come up with a rather better idea that doesn't necessitate a full-length sequel, with its stars Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn coming together to reprise their characters for a short and sweet video clip for a charity initiative launched by Omaze on Wednesday (June 14th).

The four-minute clip sees Peter LaFleur (Vaughn) and the annoying White Goodman (Stiller) offering a select few lucky fans the chance to actually play dodgeball with them. Entrants can sign up either for Vaughn’s Average Joe’s team, or for Stiller’s Globo-Gym outfit.

The nominees for the 37th annual Golden Raspberry Awards, aka the Razzies, have been revealed and according to organisers 2016 was so bad for movies there’s more contenders than ever.

Leading the pack with nine nominations is Zoolander 2, described as a "15-years-too-late sequel”, which is up for nine awards, followed by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a "WTF comic-book battle royale,” which has eight nods.

Ben Stiller has revealed in a candid new interview that he was diagnosed with “immediately aggressive” prostate cancer two years ago, at the age of 48.

The actor, speaking on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show on Tuesday (October 4th), went public with his secret battle for the first time.

“It came out of the blue for me,” Stiller, now 50 year old, said. “I had no idea. At first, I didn't know what was gonna happen. I was scared. It just stopped everything in your life because you can't plan for a movie because you don't know what's gonna happen.”

So why did it take so long for Ben Stiller to return to one of his most beloved, iconic characters? "We probably would have made a sequel the year after the movie came out," he says, "but nobody came to see the first one in the theatre really, so no one wanted it."

Of course, the film is considered a cult classic around the world. So the time finally seemed right for the actors to revisit the characters. "Comedies don't always translate cross-culturally," says Owen Wilson, who plays Derek Zoolander's fellow supermodel Hansel. "But the characters of Derek and Hansel have a level of ridiculousness I think people appreciate. And a kind of following developed. I noticed when I was travelling that there were a lot of people who came up to me quoting Zoolander."

One sequel that has apparently divided critics this month is the long awaited 'Zoolander 2'; apparently not worth the wait as the ridiculous jokes have either been brutally slammed by reviewers, or wholeheartedly accepted as deliberately stupid. Either way, no-one's raving too much about the return of Derek and Hansel.

And while the original movie was praised for its silliness, 'Zoolander 2' doesn't seem to have had the same effect on many critics.

As usual, the weekend's Super Bowl featured some hilarious commercials from a range of celebrities including Amy Schumer, Liam Neeson, Christopher Walken and Kevin Hart. But also it seems a lot of ads didn't make the cut, and Ben Stiller revealed on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' that he featured in one of those ads. And it's just as, if not more, funny.

He decided to shoot a spoof ad for Female Viagra which he unveiled on 'The Tonight Show' on Monday (February 8th 2016), after explaining to Fallon that the Super Bowl pulled his video before it could be shown.

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson made a surprise appearance on ‘Saturday Night Live’ as their dim-witted characters from the Zoolander sequel, and gave their unique insights into the pressing political issues of the day.

The pair have reprised their roles as Derek Zoolander (Stiller) and Hansel (Wilson) for the long-awaited follow-up to the much loved 2001 original, which comes out on February 12th, and they came in character to visit the ‘SNL’ segment Weekend Update with Colin Jost and Michael Che on Saturday (February 6th), getting huge cheers as they made their way onstage.

However, their commentary on the presidential nomination races didn’t extend to much more than the candidates’ fashion senses, as they were asked about Ted Cruz, Bernie Sanders, Hilary Clinton and, of course, Donald Trump.

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson brought fun, fashion and laughs to London last night, for the premiere of Zoolander No.2 in the capital’s Leicester Square. They were joined by co-stars Christine Taylor, Penelope Cruz and Will Ferrell, who all walked the special ‘blue carpet’ in honour of Derek Zoolander’s infamous ‘blue steel’ pose.

But before the screening got underway, Ben Stiller managed to break a world record for the longest selfie stick, after taking a huge selfie on the blue carpet. Stiller’s special stick measured a massive 28 feet.

With less than a fortnight to go until Zoolander 2 hits the big screen, its star Ben Stiller decided to get nostalgic and live tweet the original movie from 2001, in the process revealing quite a few interesting facts about its production and filming.

The 50 year old actor, who reprises his famous role as the “ridiculously good looking” model Derek Zoolander in the sequel out on February 12th, watched the 15 year old original on Sunday night (January 31st), tweeting fans as he did so.

Zoolander 2 co-writer Justin Theroux has the defend the film against critics who have called for it to be boycotted over Benedict Cumberbatch’s character. Cumberbatch’s character Ali was accused by some of being ‘transphobic’ when the film’s trailer hit last month and an online petition was launched calling for a boycott of the film.

Speaking to The Wrap about the petition, which has so far received over 21,000 signatures, Theroux said: “I don’t even know what to make of it, because it hurts my feelings in a way. I take great care in the jokes I write, and the umbrage being taken is out of the context of the scene.”

Zoolander 2 is still months away from hitting cinemas, but it’s already broken a record thanks to its trailer. The comedy, starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, is released on February 2nd, but fans have been viewing its trailer so much that its made the record books.

According to studio Paramount, the Zoolander 2 trailer is now “the most successful comedy trailer launch of all time”, having been viewed over 52.2 million times. The two-and-a-half minute clip was released on November 18th and even including a glimpse of Justin Bieber, who will cameo in the film.

Just days after its first trailer hit, the upcoming Zoolander sequel has come under fire due to Benedict Cumberbatch’s character. Cumberbatch plays an androgynous model named Ali in the film, but some LGBT activists have labelled the portrayal ‘a 'cartoonish mockery' of transgender, androgyne and non-binary individuals’.

Benedict Cumberbatch’s Zoolander 2 character is the subject of an online petition to boycott the movie.

The petition was started on change.org by Sarah Rose, has has so far received over 7,500 signatures. It reads: ‘In the Zoolander 2 trailer, an androgynous character played by Benedict Cumberbatch is asked by Zoolander and Hansel if he is a ‘male or female model’, and if they ‘have a hot dog or a bun’.’

The cast of Night At The Museum: Secret of the Tomb has paid tribute to cast member Robin Williams who died earlier this year. Speaking to People Magazine, the film’s stars celebrated the life and performance of their late co-star whose suicide in August devastated Hollywood.

The big movie news this week has been Sony's decision to cancel the release of the James Franco/Seth Rogen comedy The Interview due to threats made by a hacking group. The film had already held its Los Angeles premiere, attended by Franco and Rogen, costar Diana Bang and cowriter-director Evan Goldberg, who were photographed on the red carpet. But the New York premiere was cancelled, as was all press and any plans for a theatrical or home video release.

The death of acting legend and comedic master, Robin Williams, has prompted many tributes from colleagues, friends, family and fans to pour in from around the world as people come to terms with the loss of an icon. The 63-year-old versatile star of such classics as Mrs Doubtfire and Good Will Hunting was found dead at his home on Monday 11 August in what has now been confirmed as suicide by asphyxiation.

The stars turned out this week for the world premiere of 2 Guns, the new action movie that teams up Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. Both actors were on the red carpet in New York along with the film's Icelandic director Baltasar Kormakur and costars including James Marsden and Bill Paxton. Musicians Robin Thicke and 50 Cent also turned up to see the film, which will have its international premiere in London next week.

Stiller stars as Mitty, the mild-mannered LIFE magazine employee who escapes the monotony of office life through his epic daydreams.

Stiller also directs the movie, which has been plagued by budget problems though is finally set for release this Christmas. From the trailer, this looks to be a genuinely ambitious piece of cinema and should be well worth a watch.

Les Miserables actress Amanda Seyfried says she lost her "beautiful, huge breasts" after moving to Hollywood to pursue a career in movies. The 27-year-old - who plays Linda Lovelace in a forthcoming biopic - called in on the Ellen Degeneres show this week to discuss her beginnings.

"I looked way better when I was 15. I had beautiful, huge breasts!" the actress explained, "And then I came to Hollywood and I was like I gotta lose weight. I gotta look thin. I gotta get fit. And I lost them a little bit." It seems she lost more than "a little bit," telling DeGeneres she was an D cup though that she doesn't miss them, "...because they were ... uncomfortable."

Despite her own decisions, Seyfried warned, "I was feminine. I had some nice curves. And I think we should appreciate that instead of trying to get rid of everything."

Frances Ha, the new movie starring Greta Gerwig as an apprentice dancer in New York, has been critically acclaimed ahead of its release this week. The movie, by Noah Baumbach (Squid And The Whale, Margot At The Wedding), follows a young woman named Frances who lives with her best friends Sophie, until she moves out to live with another pal.

Gerwig and Baumbach first collaborated in 2010's Greenberg, starring Ben Stiller, though decided to work together again and began exchanging ideas which ultimately became the co-written script for Frances Ha. The movie is shot in black-and-white to emulate parts in Woody Allen's Manhattan (1979) and the movie is gaining comparisons to the director's most famous work, Annie Hall (1977). The film boasts a 92% score on reviews aggregating website Rotten Tomatoes (Star Trek Into Darkness 81%, Iron Man 78%) and critics have been unanimous in their praise. "An American independent film (shot in luminous black and white by Sam Levy) that feels off the cuff but is in fact exactly made by a filmmaker in total control of his resources," said Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times. John Anderson of the Wall Street Journal said, "Perhaps Ms. Gerwig is the greatest actress alive. And maybe "Frances Ha" is just the ghost orchid of independent cinema."

Ben Stiller's Red Hour Films has hired American guitarist and writer Clay Tarver to pen the script for Dodgeball 2, the follow-up to the 2004 hit comedy. The production company run by Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld have gotten the go-ahead from Fox to make a sequel and quickly confirmed Tarver as the screenwriter.

Tarver was co-founder and lead guitarist with Boston hard rock band Bullet LaVolta, though is perhaps best known for his work with Chavez , the progressive hard rock band that he formed with Matt Sweeney, Scott Marshall and James Lo in the 90s. He later turned his hand to writing and co-writer the 2001 thriller Joy Ride with Star Wars Episode 7 director J.J. Abrams. Tarver is currently working on Quantum Hoops, another movie being produced by Red Hour, about a nerdy basketball team at Caltech. He wrote the movie Men Making Music, about the world of competitive barbershop quartets and worked with Mike Judge on Meat In The Freezer, a satire about hunting for HBO films.

Dodgeball, which grossed over $114 million domestically, centered on a group of misfits gym workers who enter a dodgeball competition in order to defeat an encroaching corporate gym run by Stiller. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn will star in the sequel, though it's unclear whether the likes of Christine Taylor, Justin Long and Jason Bateman will return. The plot will reportedly see the former rivals teaming up to thwart an even bigger threat in the fitness world.

As if the thought of Arrested Development returning isn’t already exciting enough for comedy fans (and it is), it’s been revealed that Ben Stiller will be returning to the cult comedy!

As has previously been announced, the devoutly followed but niche comedy will be returning after seven years away for a fourth season, to be shown on internet streaming site Netflix. The comedy only lasted for three seasons between 2003 and 2006 but played an important in the burgeoning careers of Jason Bateman, David Cross and, most notably, Michael Cera. All of those will be returning for the new series, alongside the likes of Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor and Portia De Rossi, and they’ll be joined by Ben Stiller. Those who remember the dysfunctional family program from the first time round might recall Stiller played the rival magician to Arnett’s character Gob, Tony Wonder. Wonder appeared as a recurring character in season two and three of Arrested Development where he was famed for being able to make any amount of objects appear from places as unbelievable as his nostrils and eyelids. It’s not been revealed where he’ll fit into the show this time round, with the plot being kept secret.

However, Entertainment Weekly have pointed out that Stiller will join a host of guesting stars, including Seth Rogan, Kristen Wiig, Conan O’Brien, Isla Fisher and John Slattery.

Whether he's being a complete Focker, has semen hanging from his ear, or suffering terribly after eating a curry, Ben Stiller has delighted us all with laugh-out-loud roles and movies for decades (yeah, we are that old! Reality Bites... is almost 20 years old). So it seems apt that he be awarded and congratulated for all that he's done for comedy. On hand to celebrate him personally were celebrity power couple, Justin Theroux, who has worked with Stiller for a long time, and his new fiancée Jennifer Aniston.

Aniston showed off her enormous engagement rock to her friends when they showed up, reports E!. Aniston gave a tribute in person, as well as appearing in her husband-to-be's own tribute, but comedically refusing to comment on the video that Theroux had made, saying that she'd be there in person- which she was, as reported by People. Aniston's own offering was a montage of Stiller's romantic scenes. 

Introducing the video she said: "All right, I'm here to introduce what every lady in this room has been waiting for. And that would be Ben Stiller's lover package. Ben's package is surprisingly large, very expansive, and its lasting power speaks for itself. It spans the length of his manhood - from boyish rogue in Reality Bites, to tender husband and father in the Focker flicks." Continuing, "He is adorable. He's sensitive. He's shockingly ripped. And if you don't believe me, I'd suggest pulling out your iPhone and Google-ing 'Stiller Hawaii beach.' Trust me, it's intense." We googled. He's totally ripped.
